Monte Fossa delle Felci is the highest peak of the Aeolian Islands. And one of the two craters of Salina, and its ancient volcanic origin is highlighted by very choreographic rocks that create sheer walls, crevices and hollows, made more spectacular by the lush green surroundings.
The trail climbs with a fairly steep slope. However, trees and high hedges form a kind of tunnel, whose shadow makes the climb even in the hottest hours of the day. Increasingly dense trees, and... the mythical “ferns” that give name to the top!
The highest point is 963 meters.
One of the most striking is to the southeast of the crater, where the rock creates a kind of balcony on the Language pond, with the islands of Lipari and Vulcano in the background.
